In 1661 King Charles II’s coronation takes place in London. He makes Hampton Court Palace one of his favorite residences, offering improvements to the palace and the gardens. He loves peace and beauty (in all forms!) and enjoys simple pleasures like his spaniels that we know today as King Charles Spaniels. My character Kate meets the king because of one of his wayward puppies.
