Do you sometimes fall into the world of what if? It’s a tricky place that can consume your waking hours and even your dreams. I don’t like being there, but go there, I do. Too often.
Mark Twain once said in his later years: “I have known a great many troubles, but most of them have never happened.” Do you agree? Looking back, I see it as a truism of life.
Here are some of my what ifs:
What if I miss my flight?
What if the internet goes out?
What if the pipes freeze?
What if I miss a deadline?
What if I lose my job?
What if someone close to me falls ill?
What if I don’t have enough money for retirement?
What if…..?
Hebrews 12:1-2 “…let us lay aside every weight…looking to Jesus, the founder and perfection of our faith…”
I want to live in the freedom of my faith in Jesus Christ, casting aside all of my what ifs.
Great post! Mark Twain is my favorite American author from the past. ‘What if’ is a scary thing to dwell on.
Beautiful! Thank you for this reminder to be calm and not worry too much.
Beautiful devotion!
