Rumor has it that the world is about to open up, offering a new normal. All I know is that I have learned lots of lessons that I hope I will implement in my life after the pandemic. Each of us has carried different burdens, perhaps bringing some from before the stay at home mandate–health, finances, jobless, depressed, loss. Most of us did not need the addition of a pandemic in our already hectic, over busy lives.
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
This morning as I thought about a release from quarantine, I prayed for the health of the nation and more specifically for me to not forget the lessons from the past 40 days. Your list will look different from mine.
Slow down Simplify Spend less Read Grow Reach out Support Appreciate Love Listen Enjoy Exercise Pray Celebrate Encourage Write Praise
“Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” I Peter 5:7
Join me as I decide to take these lessons to heart and make them a part of my life as I’m called to enter the world again.
What are some lessons you will keep close no matter the condition of the world?
Great reflections!
Great post. Love your pics! Also, I have that ‘keep calm’ mug!
Thanks for reading and commenting! I miss seeing everyone!
This is a lovely reflection of the experience of the last couple on months. My list is similar. Simplify. Read. Small goals. Relax. Dont stress. Show love. Patience. Sympathy. I have spent the first few months of my son’s life at home with home, which was not the plan due to work. It has been a joy to watch him grow. I have enjoyed simple projects that I would not have done without this time at home. I have perfected my morning coffee and even found a new therapeutic sound: the sound of grains of sugar falling into a hot coffee or tea, if you pour slowly from a spoon and listen, you can hear each grain as it meets the liquid. I’ve also spent more time watching my backyard birds and squirrels interact. I’ve utilized the postal service quite a bit to connect. And I’ve learned to consider the fragility of our being, each person has their weakness and vulnerability. Someone may seem strong in life in general but in an extreme circumstance may be vulnerable. Ive also seen what teamwork and community support can be. I’ve seen my school, my city all come together to support those in need and lift each other up. National and international companies have also shown compassion and empathy on both the financial and emotional fronts. Lots of life lessons.
Wow! That is beautiful! And I hope when this is over, we continue with these lessons.
