An Ounce of Success

How do you celebrate a success—big or small? I won’t try to define success for I know it varies from person to person and day to day. As I’ve aged, I measure and value my small accomplishments more and more. I celebrate little feats and give credit, not to myself, but to the One who provides the strength and determination to finish and accomplish life’s tasks.

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 15:57

I want to acknowledge my little ounces of success with a treat. The feat might be writing “the end,” or completing a project (clearing a closet, painting a room.) It could be finishing a difficult day in one piece or being able to say “I did it” or “That’s over.” All shapes. All sizes.

Please add to my list of celebration ideas:

  • Reading a book for pleasure
  • Out to eat
  • Sonic ice cream treat
  • Happy dance
  • Long walk
  • A nap
  • Bubble bath
  • Overdue chat with a friend over coffee or tea
  • Chocolate (Yes, please!)

What do you do to celebrate a job well done or in some cases just the completion of a task?

Lately, I have been saying thank you, Lord Jesus. I have not been celebrating in any other means.
