I had the awesome privilege of attending the 2022 American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) Conference in St. Louis at the beginning of September. Besides the workshops, speakers, and worship, there was a bookstore. I am a true bookstore peruser and customer. I had to limit myself, partially because of finances but mainly because I have so many books at home to read. This year I added six to my collection. Read below and see what you think of my choices.
The keynote speaker was Liz Curtis Higgs. I have read many of her historical Scotland based novel. Mine is the Night was on a table wrapped in brown paper as part of the date a book event. I did not know which book I would find. Yay! This is book two in a series. So, I immediately ordered book one and have already started reading it. (So much for my carefully ordered TBR pile!)
The Wedding Dress Christmas by Rachel Hauck is a contemporary novella perfect for the season. I’m ready to travel to Tennessee with this one. Another contemporary is All’s Fair in Love and Cupcakes by Betsy St. Amant (a Louisiana author). I have met this author and love her stories, and I am a fan of cupcakes too.
I spent some time with Dana McNeely at the conference. Her biblical fiction Rain takes place in ancient Samaria. Next, I am drawn to anything with the word patriot! The Patriot Bride (The Daughters of the Mayflower Series) by Kimberley Woodhouse is a nice fit for me. 1774 Philadelphia fits right in with my writings and research.
Split time fiction is a favorite style as the authors span two (or more) eras or periods. Where the Last Rose Blooms by Ashley Clark encompasses two of my favorite places—New Orleans and Charleston. This one might move up in my stack! This is a new author for me too.
Do any of these sound interesting to you? Please share.
