I started early this year with Christmas novels and novellas. They gave me an extra layer of Christmas cushion. Really, I find the carols, movies, novels, decorations, and festive goodies a joy for my heart and disposition. I find it easy to get wrapped up in the drama of novels and movies, always very content to curl up and cover up with a good book.
This year I’ve added a couple of Christmas devotionals. The inspirational, Christ-based daily readings give heart to my time among the words. I have two favorites this year.
Keeping Christmas 25 Advent reflections on A Christmas Carol by Allison Pittman is a treasure as I meditate on the Christian and Christmas lessons from the classic by Charles Dickens. Scrooge’s journey holds many warnings for us as we face our own journeys full of decisions about humanity.
The other devotional is In the Manger 25 Inspirational Selections for Advent by Max Lucado. This one challenges me to enter the whole nativity scene as a participant in God’s miraculous plan and promise.
Do you have a devotional that speaks to you during this season?
Merry Christmas and many blessings to you and yours.
