May and Mother’s Day bring back many growing up memories. Every Mother’s Day weekend, we would go to my great-aunt’s house Sylvan Retreat. We would always pick dewberries along the railroad tracks. Buckets full of delicious berries ready for a cobbler.
Now my parents live in that house. The dewberries are gone since the railroad company claimed the land by the railroad tracks. But have no fear, I’ve found more and now make the best dewberry cobblers.
There are other things that remind me of May.
- Roses
- Magnolias
- Honeysuckle
- Long walks
- Crickets and frogs
- Clover
What can you add to the dewberry list?
Happy May and Mother’s Day!
I would add wild roses to the list. I know roses is on there, but I have deep pink wild running roses that bloom just before Mother’s Day each year. Both of my grandmothers had them and Mama’s are still blooming, too. I have a start from one grandmother. Mama’s are a lighter pink, so I plan to get a start from that one, too.
