Calm and Quiet at Christmas

by | Dec 20, 2023 | Uncategorized | 4 comments

In the midst of the Christmas season, I want to slow down and exit the speedy freeway. I set my phone down more often. I rest by the tree with a book.

“I have calmed and quieted myself, … I am content.” Psalm 131:2

I have choices to make and a responsibility to be still. Technology is not going away, but I can choose to rest in contentment is God’s goodness and unending gifts.

I’m enjoying this season as I spend fewer hours on social media and other distraction. Hopefully, this calmness and quietness will follow me into the new year.

It is a choice. One that I need to make more often.

Enjoy a calm and quiet Christmas—at least for a few hours.

What do you do to find a calm and quiet place of contentment?

I like to go to the lake by my house and just sit there for a bit. Another thing I will be doing is going to the cafe with my book and enjoy a cup of tea.

Love this!!! I set a time in the evenings to stop everything and just read. Usually I have to prepare for the next day of work, but since we will take some time off for the holidays, I can just relax. I have not watched a movie or tv show in a few years, but we started on this week for enjoyment.

I like to turn the tv to a “fire in a fireplace,” with a cup of tea and a good book. Sometimes I just sit with my hot tea and pet the cat in my lap.
