I Need a Vacation from Myself

I really think I need a vacation from myself. I don’t know if that is possible, but I know how I want it to look. How can I unplug me from the equation?

My days, weekends, and even vacations always have a list or lists. I love organizing my time and seeing goals accomplished daily. But to tell you the truth, I need a break from it all. I have goals for work (I’m a teacher), writing, reading, gardening, social media, editing, inputting, and general life things like cooking, laundry, and cleaning. I’m tired just thinking about it.

On vacation, I still tend to bring my writing and editing along with my books and social media.

What would a vacation look like without dragging along the stuff of my goals.

  • Long walks
  • Puzzles
  • Long reading spells
  • Watching a movie without multitasking
  • Board games
  • Working in the garden
  • Touring gardens, houses, new places
  • Sitting with my husband with no TV or plans
  • Talking and listening without a device in sight!
  • Long meditation and praying
  • But all without a list…

Will I ever get a vacation from myself? Not entirely…but I can try to take along the good parts and have fun!

Bon voyage…wherever you go, even in the backyard.
