I love the time I have to read in the summer before school starts again. These books will take me through September. Hopefully, you will find one you like.
Sense and Suitability by Pepper Basham gives a new twist to a classic. What kind of mischief does Emmeline get into now. Listen for the Chickadees by Terri Wangard takes the reader to Peal Harbor in 1941. War demands courage and separation from loved ones.
Rebellion 1776 by Laurie Halse Anderson gives a view into historical Boston during the Revolutionary War. I’m excited to add this to my 2026 list for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Alligators and Arson by Jann Franklin is a contemporary small-town mystery set in Louisiana. Full of humor and crime.
No Stone Unturned by a new-to-me author Jenelle Hovde writes a Regency romance. It promises intrigue and a beautiful setting. The Mysterious Bakery on Rue de Paris by Evie Woods features France and croissants and loads of mystery. If it is anything like The Lost Bookshop, it will be wonderful.
