Beat the Heat…

Need I comment on how hot it is this summer (well, last summer too)! I am thankful for an inside job with a constant fan and AC. Yet, some people have to work outside. Hopefully, they have lots of water and occasional shade.

Even though it is hot, there are things I must do in the heat. Sometimes the discomfort is a must. It can be energizing but mostly it zaps me.

Here are a few things I MUST do in the summertime even when it is 102 degrees:

  • Walk the dog. This is a twice daily activity. Of course, I could try to hit early morning and late afternoon or evening. What do I do? 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Not the wisest times. Tully enjoys his inside time with me.
  • Water the plants. Poor darlings. All I have left are zinnias, roses, and daylilies and a few porch plants—geraniums and lantana. The butterflies are still happy. Maybe I water for them!
  • Cook. Have you ever noticed how the oven heats the kitchen in the summer. Why do I do that? Hmm. We like to eat.
  • Check on people. I might want to hibernate in the extreme heat but I like to know that my parents and others are doing well. A quick walk to my parents’ house doesn’t heat me up too much. Well worth the loving embraces.

Can you think of anything that you must do in this extremely hot summer? Maybe dream of the fall….
