One Role of a Bookstore–A Book Sanctuary

by | Apr 2, 2025 | Uncategorized | 2 comments

When I think of a sanctuary, a few visuals come to mind—a church and an aviary. I know, completely different. Both are a place of peace, inspiration, and vibrancy. There’s another place that can be a sanctuary. I came across a perfect one in Abilene, Texas last week.

A Book Sanctuary. This bookstore even uses it in its title.

Seven and One

A Book Sanctuary

As I walked in, I felt like I was at home with so many books at my fingertips. My husband found a chair and let me wander the rooms with no time limit. Nice.

  • Bookshelves with genres
  • High ceilings
  • Colorful, interesting décor
  • Unique book choices—including classics and new authors
  • Tables for study or group work
  • Chairs, couches
  • Cozy Corners
  • Activity station for children
  • Ongoing talks with authors, teachers, readers weekends and evenings

So much that draws in everyone, even the ones who are not big readers.

Bring your computer, phones, readers, and relax.

Do you have a favorite bookstore? What about from your travels?

Please share….

I love The Avenue in Ruston. I haven’t been to the one Rolling Hills put in Ruston but I plan to soon.
